I'd like to take a minute to introduce The Alpheios Project, a fascinating project developed by equally fascinating individuals we became acquainted with at NECC.
From their description:
Alpheios makes software for reading and learning languages. In our first release we are illustrating the functionality of the software using specially enhanced Latin and Greek texts on our own website, and texts without such enhancements on a few other selected web sites. In the future we will be providing more enhanced Latin and Greek texts as well as texts in other languages
The Alpheios Project joins a shortlist of software able to educate learners in Latin and Greek and, in a world dominated by web-ware that focuses on more typical, modern Romance languages, Alpheios seems uniquely able.
I wonder: how might educators integrate Alpheios into instruction? What classes might benefit most? What are your thoughts?
Cheers,
--Dave
