The Standard Method, also called Long Multiplication, is the most common method for solving Multiplication problems. To use Standard Multiplication, place the Multiplicand (number on top) over the Multiplier (number on the bottom). To use it, work from right to left. Multiply the number at the bottom left by the numbers above it, one at a time. Be sure to carry any tens-value numbers and add them as you go, and be sure to remember to add additional place holders (zeros) as you move down each multiplier row.

After multiplying as necessary, you will have several rows of numbers that you need to add to obtain the product, or result. Once again, be sure to carry and tens-value numbers and add them as you go.
